Economical Status of Faroes Islands

Constitution of Faroe Islands

Since 1948, the Faroe Island has already been a self-governing state. The people living in here can freely pursue with what they wanted to do with their economic, cultural and social development. They have the right of self-government under the international law.Since the fishing industry is the first economic supplement of this state, they have the Grind Law rule that stated on how to slaughter fish or whales in more humane ways. People have to undergo special training and gain the certificate on slaughtering a pilot whale before they start to harvest. Slaughtering into this state became a criticism from animal welfare organization, so they improve and make this law to stop this criticism.
